In
the fall of 2004 KYB released AGX 8 way adjustable shocks
for the first generation Ford Focus. The rear shocks of the
focus happen to have almost exactly the same amount of travel
and are also nearly the exact same length both compressed
and extended. They also have a stud at the top and an eye
at the bottom just like the rear shocks for the MK2. However
the lower bushing and upper stud are slightly different in
diameter so you will have to modify and swap over your old
bushings to the new shocks. The part number is 741067, since
this is a new part number it may be somewhat difficult to
find but any KYB dealer should be able to get them. I ordered
mine through Summit Racing www.summitracing.com
The
first step is to drill out one of the washers for each bushing
mount to 7/16", now it will slide onto the shaft perfectly
like this.

Now
the 2 old bushings, the old upper washer and the nut that
came with the AGX's can be installed without any modifications.

Now the lower bushing will need to be pressed out. I used a bench vise to do this. Place a socket that is slightly larger than the bushing on one side and a socket that is smaller than the bushing on the other side. Squeeze out the bushing like the picture below. Once the bushing is being pressed tightly you may need to rock the shock body back and forth to get the bushing to break free from the eye, the bushing will be stuck in there pretty good.

Now
just reinstall you old lower bushings. You may want to use
a vise for this also to get them pressed in there well its
a pretty tight fit, and it will make it hard to get the bolt
started if the bushings are sticking out too much.
